Artech House (USA and United Kingdom)  

My Role: Freelance Graphic Designer and Illustrator

As a graphic designer and illustrator at Artech House, I am charged with developing book cover illustrations for published Engineering books sold worldwide. I brainstorm and conceptualize drawings based upon each book's white papers upon thorough review. Each cover must convey the message of what the target audiences shall be reading about within the chapters themselves.

Besides book illustrations, I assist the marketing departments with digital and print based collateral for social, website and in-person conferences year round (we do eventually sleep though, all good!) These include the annual book catalogs (print and e-book) and banners/slides for international conference setups.

 

Having previously worked in the AEC field (Architecture, Engineering and Construction) for several years in Marketing and Communications, I was accustomed to some of the terms and aesthetics that go into rendering out more technical drawings and there is, even now, more to learn.  A good design challenge is always appreciated in my book.
